I helped out at our church’s first KidzTown this past Saturday morning, and I heard a riddle there.
How do you turn 7 into an even number?
You take the “S” off the front of it.
I have CDO. It's obsessive-compulsive disorder, sorted alphabetically

Removing the letter ’s’ from the word “seven” changes the word to “even”. “Even” is not a number, but a property a number can have.

one level up
Now, had the question been “How do you make ’seven’ even?” that would just about spoil all the discussion aspects of it. There would be some auditory clue, certainly less than the visual clue, had it been offered that way.
Too bad your youngster didn’t ask “How do you make ’seven’ even, Steven?”
I shall await a response with unabated breath!
