My buddy Paul is writing in 2 Corinthians 5.

For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

This has some resonance in the current circumstances – Grammy’s funeral is Saturday.  But it’s also interesting because Paul is a tent-maker.  He understands exactly what he is writing about.  He knows how tents decay and fall apart, in a different way than houses do.

And he understands that we’re swapping in some fabric for something solid.  We will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye into something imperishable (1 cor 15:52).  Nothing we do on our own – nothing we can control.

But something we can accept.
