Don’t you just hate finding out that a carefully-nurtured idea is wrong?

The scriptures don’t contain any verses about the lion and the lamb.  They do contain this from Isaiah 65:25a:

The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox

A couple interesting things about this revelation (it’s a revelation because everybody knows it’s true the other way!):

  1. We have alliteration with the lion and the lamb.  It’s more pleasing to our ears.  Plus, the lion is much more noble than the wolf.
  2. The wolf is grazing, and the lion is eating straw.  This makes them vegetarians, which places them in the Garden of Eden.  Before the Fall, everybody was a vegetarian.

This gives us a better idea of the new earth.  Too bad we won’t realize how good it is, comparatively.  From 65:17:

For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind

Or maybe not so bad after all . . .
