The phrase “finger of God” is mentioned four times in the NASB.  First was when the court magicians of Pharaoh tried and failed to roll back the plague of gnats.  Since they couldn’t reverse it, they called it the finger of God.

The next two are Moses talking about the Ten Commandments.  He said that the finger of God inscribed the words on the stone tablets.

Finally comes the real interesting one, from the New Testament.  In Luke 11:20, Jesus says

But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

It’s a common playground taunt that “my Dad has more strength in his little finger than your dad has in his whole body!”.  But Jesus wasn’t just talking – he was doing it!

And this guy – this true Master of the Universe, who can banish demons with a flick of His finger – He wants to be my friend?

Yup.  And I stand amazed in the glory of Jesus the Nazarene.
