I was on the Space Gizmo site and found footage of a landing of a Soyuz capsule.  Take a peek – the landing happens at the ten-second mark.

I started rethinking my life as an astronaut, if the thing is going to hit this hard.  Then I read the comments and discovered that there are retro rockets firing just before landing to soften the blow.  Instead of being an indicator of something horrible, the big dust cloud is a sign that things are better than they seem.

This probably applies to some things in life – like having an airbag blow up in your face.
